Taylor Deupree (b. 1971) is a sound artist, graphic designer, and photographer residing in New York. In 1997, he founded 12k, a record label that focuses on minimalism and contemporary hybrids of acoustic and electronic music. In 12k’s 12 years of existence Deupree has released over 70 CDs by a roster of international sound artists and has developed 12k into one of the most respected experimental music labels in the world. Ben Swire is a musician and recording engineer based in San Francisco. Originally from the Boston area, he studied drums and percussion with jazz drummer Matt Gordy. As a teenager, he built his first studio in his parents' basement. It was there that he began to explore the possibilities of the studio setting, not only as a space to capture performances, but also as a collection of creative tools to layer, sculpt and manipulate sound. This approach became the impetus for making his own recordings. Swire's formal music education continued at UMass Amherst, where he studied with electroacoustic composer Charles Bestor. Upon graduating, he moved to London where he performed regularly with Naturestrip founder Joel Stern in the experimental/improvisational act Minus. Swire has appeared on recordings for labels in the USA, the UK, Germany and Australia. His debut full length, "From Here to There," was released in 2010 on Preservation. More information on his music, as well as his work in photography and sound mixing, can be found on his website: www.benswire.com.

B. „Let's call it a day“ mit Move D). Auf seinen Binemusic-Veröffentlichungen befinden sich 100%ige Nord-Modular-Produktionen.

Chemnitz-based Olaf Bender originally started out with experimental film manipulation during his high school days that put him in touch with the East German underground band AG-Geige, of which he became a member in 1988. After the fall of the Berlin wall, Bender continued to work in graphic design, art and the music business, eventually setting up the label Rastermusic in 1996 together with Frank Bretschneider. The label merged with Carsten Nicolai's Noton imprint in 1999 to form Raster-Noton, Germany's singular experimental music imprint, for which Bender has created a distinct appearance and product design. Musically Bender is an autodidact, assembling sine tones to complex and powerful sound fabrics. His longest still-running project is Signal, a collaboration with Bretschneider and Nicolai, but it is his Byetone moniker, which has been receiving the most attention lately, with a single and album in 2008, even leading to an unlikely remix for Berlin's Modeselektor.

British artist Robin Rimbaud traverses the experimental terrain between sound, space, image and form, creating absorbing, multi-layered sound pieces that twist technology in unconventional ways. From his early controversial work using found mobile phone conversations, through to his focus on trawling the hidden noise of the modern metropolis as the symbol of the place where hidden meanings and missed contacts emerge, his restless explorations of the experimental terrain have won him international admiration from amongst others, Bjork, Aphex Twin and Stockhausen.

Steinbrüchels musical work deals mainly with the texture and atmosphere of sound. In the studio he works relentlessly towards the creation of new sounds. The accumulation, collection and the arrange- ment of those sounds is revealed during his livesets. The sounds one hears in his music form both intricate patterns and spacious landscapes. In his experiments with electronically created sound, steinbrüchel portrays an acute awareness for beauty. His productions follow a distinctly sophisticated aesthetic. Flowing calmly through the listener his music invokes a glowing space which invites the listener to travel within the sound. Steinbrüchels compositions and conceptual arrangements connect him to the genre of New Music rather than club music, locating his work more in the realm of digital sound art.
